"Margaret Christian Ponder born Hickman Co., TN, Dec. 6 1829. 1st husband was Col. Aden Lowe. They had three children, only Mrs. M.E. Lowe-Ponder survives. On June 29 1865 she married D.K. Ponder and had one son, A.R. Ponder, who survives. She came converted to the Cumberland Presbyterian church in January 1873. Died Jan. 9. She was 82 years, one month, three days of age." ~

Ponder of east Doniphan died at home Thursday and was buried at Oak Ridge Friday afternoon. Rev. Newton Cavens officiated. About five weeks ago he was down at Hemingway with wagon and team when one horse got away. He got on the other horse and started back to town. The horse had not been broken to saddle and threw him off. Seriously hurt by the fall, he walked home to Doniphan. It is thought injury and long walk led to death. Had been in bed two weeks.
