RIPLEY COUNTY, MISSOURI
MARRIAGE RECORDS
1833 - 1900

These records were compiled and published by the Ripley County Missouri Historical Society, in their
quarterly bulletin "The Ripley County Heritage". Errors in transcription and data entry are inevitable,
and variations in surname spelling were common prior to 1900. Some records are missing, i.e. 2 pages from
the original records for 1835 were apparently lost.
Some records for the period 1855-56 had only surnames
recorded.
Also, marriage records during the civil war, 1861-1865, were recorded by military officials, and these records
were apparently destroyed at the conclusion of the war.
Where only initials were recorded, or unusual given names could lead to confusion as to groom and bride,
I have added the prefix Ms. to the brides name.
If the original record listed Miss or Mrs., these have been copied unchanged.
