Micajah Paine/Payne acquired three separate
warrants for land - 2 in Maury Co. and 1 in Hickman Co. from the State
of Tennessee. These documents were
located by first finding his warrants on the Tennessee State Archives &
Library

From the above we see Micajah owned 72 1/2 acres in Maury Co.
and 200 acres in Hickman Co. giving him a total of 272 1/2 acres of land
by 1840. The
Hickman Co. courthouse burned and so the sale of that land is lost,
however the following deed shows his sale of his Maury Co. land in
preparation for migrating
to Ripley Co., MO with his sons.

To all to whom these presents shall come . . . GREETING: KNOW YE, That for,
and in consideration of the sum of One cent per acre paid into the office of
the Entry Taker of Maury county, and entered on the 20th day of December
1826 pursuant to the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of said
state, passed on the twentysecond day of November, one thousand eight
hundred and twenty-three, and the Acts Supplemental thereto by No. 469
There is granted by the said State of Tennessee, unto Micjah Payne a certain
Tract or Parcel of LAND, containing Sixty acres ~
by survey bearing date the 29th day of March 1827 lying in said county.
On the waters of Leepers Lick Creek and bounded as follows ~ To Wit ~
Beginning at a beech on Conrod Bakers South boundary of 50 acres near his
Spring
branch running thence South forty three poles to a hickory on William
Kinsley's North boundary of 228 acres thence West with said line 106 1/10
poles to a stake
thence North 106 9/10 poles to a white oak thence East eight poles and six
tenths to a hornbeam the North West corner of said Baker's 50 acres first
mentioned thence South with the West boundary then of sixty three poles & 3
tenths to the South West corner of the same a chesnut and dogwood thence
East with the South boundary then of twenty six poles to the beginning.
With the hereditaments and appurtenances. To Have and to Hold, the said
Tract or Parcel of LAND, with its appurtenances, to the said Micajiah Payne
and
his heirs forever In witness whereof, Samuel Houston Governor of the State
of Tennessee, hath here unto set his hand, and caused the great seal of the

certain Tract or Parcel of LAND, containing Twelve and a half acres by
survey bearing date the 25th day of February 1828 lying in said county~

Beginning at said Paynes North East corner beginning corner of his first
Entry whereas he now lives at a birch Running thence South with his East
boundary forty
four poles to the South East corner of the same a hickory on William

To all to whom these presents shall come . . . Greeting: KNOW YE, That by
virtue of Entry No. 873 dated the 20th day of January 1834 made in the Entry
Takers office of Hickman County in pursuance of an Act of the General
Assembly of said state passed on the 9th day of January 1830.
There is granted by the said State of Tennessee, unto Micajah Payne a
certain Tract or Parcel of LAND, containing Two Hundred acres ~ by survey
bearing date the 14th day of January 1836 lying in said county,
On the North side of Dog Creek and bounded as follows to wit~
Beginning on a white oak marked with the letters M.P. Running from thence
South one hundred twenty six & five tenths poles to a hickory with a black
oak &
hickory pointing, thence East Two? hundred & fifty three poles to a stake
with two poplars and a white oak pointing in a small hollow, thence north
one
hundred twenty six & five tenth poles to a state with three black gum & a
white oak pointing, thence West two hundred & fifty three poles to the
